Help your Child/Children Reinforce Positive Behavior Through Proper
Appreciation:
Whenever you wish to praise or appreciate your child, do it in descriptive terms. Praise or recognize the act and explain how the child did well and the impact of their action.
Example - my Dad will say;
“Ranti,” as he liked to call me. “I like the great job you did with the toilet cleaning. I’m especially impressed with the way the cistern sparkle radiant white. Our visitors will feel comfortable sitting on it.”
Praising a child’s good deeds in a transparent manner that includes what they did right, makes them feel good, and reinforce other positive behavior. Therefore, avoid the phrases “you did well, that’s great or well done,” etc.
